This session will focus on understanding the impact of digital colonialism on historically marginalized communities and proposing alternative governance models. Renata Ávila (Open Knowledge Foundation), Marília Maciel (Diplo Foundation), and moderator Yasmin Curzi (UVA) will address the following questions: How does the dominance of the Global North in digital spaces reinforce digital colonialism? What policies, interventions and strategies could be implemented to ensure the inclusion of diverse and local perspectives?
