Simone Marijic Buljubasic is an undergraduate student and Jefferson Scholar at the University of Virginia studying Music, History, and Public Policy & Leadership. She is currently a research assistant at the Digital Technology for Democracy Lab working alongside faculty co-leads Mona Kasra and Laurent Dubois. She is particularly interested in protecting intimate privacy data and ethical, community-based applications of AI, as well as protecting the safety of creator spaces online. During her time at UVA, she has conducted research into the history of hacking and computer law in the modern U.S. and has organized speaker events for the Business and AI Institute to facilitate dialogue about how innovation can coexist with user safety and accountability.
