Megan Wiessner

Megan Wiessner is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Rhetoric and Communication Studies at the University of Richmond, and an Affiliate of the Digital Technology for Democracy Lab and Sloane Lab at the University of Virginia. Her scholarship is focused on digital media systems and the cultural politics of sustainability, with special attention to the role of computation in ecosystem management and environmental design, drawing on approaches from media studies, STS, and political ecology.  Her ethnographic and archival research has been supported by the Wenner-Gren Foundation, the Canadian Centre for Architecture, and the NYU Wagner School of Public Service. She holds a PhD in Media, Culture, and Communication from New York University and an MSc from the School of Geography and the Environment at the University of Oxford.
